TVDA

The Thames Valley Domestic Abuse Strategy Group (formerly TVDV) was set up to develop a more strategic approach to domestic abuse across all the key agencies in the area.   The Thames Valley Partnership was asked to co-ordinate the group on behalf of the key agencies including:  Thames Valley Criminal Justice Board, Police, Probation,  CPS, HMCTS, Chief Executives of the Local Authorities, and other voluntary and statutory bodies working in the area of domestic abuse.

The TVDA has moved forward significantly in:

  • The development of specialist domestic violence courts
  • The development of MARACs (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Committees)
  • A scoping of services across the Thames Valley against models of care framework
  • Collaboration between Safeguarding Boards and MARACs
  • Assessment of services for children and the importance of domestic violence as part of Every Child Matters
  • Establishing of a Scrutiny Panel (to review old cases in order that key agencies learn their lessons to improve their service practice to victims)

It continues to meet every three months and is still co-ordinated by the Partnership.  If you have examples of good practice that you would like to contribute, please e-mail them to bron@thamesvalleypartnership.org.uk.

We are always keen to learn what is going on both inside the Thames Valley and out.
